Finally the Mac Pro we've all been waiting for! Still the fasted computer on the market today has doubled its power by going from quad-cored to octo-cored! This is the most processors we've seen yet in a retail machine. The options ares astounding at up to 16 gigs of RAM and almost 2tb! (Tera-bytes ~ 1000-1024 gb) This is truely the developer machine.

Apple-EMI Announcement

A while ago you had Steve telling us that DRM was broken and that we should go all copy-protected free.

Well, as everyone thought this was just for the press, people told Steve Jobs that he should start selling unprotected songs on iTunes.

Well, Now that is finally here! Most EMI songs can be bought (In May) for the regular $.99 for with DRM or $1.29 without it. Users that have already bought  protected  songs will be able to upgrade for only $.30!

For some this is the beggining of the end for DRM, but the other record companys just think they're nuts! I think that soon we will see this happening all over the place. I would pay $.30 more for DRM free music.

Vista is Okay

Okay, Okay!
People have been telling me over and over that my 'review' of Vista is not very true. Yes, Visat is the best version of Windows yet. (Not saying much) But, you really need at least 1GB of memory to run it on a PC. No I would not recommend upgrading, you need to buy a new PC. If the PC comes with Vista take advantage of the new features and security, but don't try to go through a lot of trouble just to get XP on it!

So, yes I would recommend Vista, if you are buying a new PC, I would not recommend upgrading.

Microsoft Product Week: Part 1 - Vista Rant

AHHH..... I can't take it anymore!
Vista which shipped 2 days ago is driving me crazy!
Sure it may look appealing but really, do you need it?

Vista
Vista

The answer to this question is however, no.
The only way to actually enjoy Vista is to buy it on a new PC, otherwise it just seems crappy and slow. Sure you get a pretty new interface and 'gadgets' but that just slows down the whole OS. I ran Vista on preconfigured settings with just 512MB RAM and a 128MB Graphics card, and it crashes and slows to a halt every time I have at least 3 programs open! Its just like the Mac Commercial, you really have to upgrade your computer to run it.
UAC, yes it adds protection, but do you want an annoying pop-up every time you open your web browser? Besides it still comes down on the user and if the user just gets annoyed with the pop-ups, they aren't going to check to see if they started the program, they will just press OK.
Hmm, does the interface and functionality look familiar? Why, yes it does! Could it be from OS X? Why of course not! If you don't believe me then check out David Pouge from the NY Times tell you why here.
Finally, Vista adds some features that we've needed in Windows for a very long time, unfortunately most take up too much memory for the average computer to handle! "But wait", Microsoft says, "Why don't you use Ready Boost? It works great to add memory to your computer!" That is one feature that fully does not work. If you tried to use Ready Boost on an iPod, guess what? It won't work on an iPod because the iPod doesn't have what Microsoft calls, "Fast Memory." Okay then, lets try a jump drive. Hey, Windows will use it! But, umm where is the speed increase? That is the problem, in fact Vista runs a wee bit slower when using Ready Boost because it tries to access your jump drive every 5 seconds!
I guess Microsoft is still trying to catch-up to where Apple has most all of the drivers already installed, but that is still just a dream for Windows. Compatibility, what is that? Its not that Vista isn't compatible with the device, some drivers won't run or install! All the 3rd party developers that don't have their drivers signed, well HAVe TO HAVE THEM SIGNED NOW! So, sorry if you are a small company and can't get them signed...
Well, are you ready to open up your pocketbook and pour out your money in front of Bill Gates for a shiny dvd and OS? If you said yes than maybe I can still try to convince you that Vista is crap and OS X is better, join me on the first episode of '3 degress of huntaub' to hear me talk about Vista!

OS X on Windows?

If you can run Windows on a Mac why can't you run OS X on a Windows PC? Apple is a software company and will never sell its OS alone, but you can fake it. With clever scripting and skinning thanks to the people at http://www.flayakiteosx.com/. Then you can make your computer look like this one.
